Add credits

What credits are, the packs and bonuses, auto top-up, reading your balance and usage, and invoices with VAT.

Credits are a prepaid balance, like topping up a phone. You add money once, and each message you send takes a small amount off it. When the balance is empty, requests stop until you top up again. Nothing is charged automatically unless you turn on auto top-up.

What you'll need

A signed-in Halfbill account and a payment card. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and crypto are also offered at checkout.

1. Open the top-up dialog

  1. Sign in at halfbill.uk/dashboard.
  2. Click Top Up Credits at the top right, or click Add next to your balance in the left menu.
The Billing page with the Credits section and the Top Up Credits button

2. Pick an amount

Because Halfbill charges half the vendor price, $10 of credits buys $20 of usage at vendor prices. You can type any amount from $10 to $5,000, or click one of the packs. Larger packs add bonus credits on top of what you pay.

PackYou payCredits you getBuys at vendor prices
Starter$10$10$20
Builder$25$25$50
Pro$50$52.50 (+5%)$105
Scale$100$110 (+10%)$220
Volume$250$287.50 (+15%)$575

Custom amounts get the same bonus once they cross a threshold ($50, $100, $250). The dialog shows the exact total before you pay.

Credits stay valid for 12 months after your last purchase. Any purchase resets the 12 months.

Chat keeps its own balance

Credits added on the dashboard belong to that organization and are spent by the API. Halfbill Chat keeps a separate chat balance: top it up inside the chat app (Chat credits → Add in the left menu), or switch the chat to one of your organizations to spend that organization's credits there.

3. Optional: never run out

Auto top-up adds credits for you when the balance drops below a threshold you choose. Turn it on in the top-up dialog (Never run out of credits) or on the Billing page under Auto Top-Up, where you set the threshold and the amount. It needs a saved payment method.

Reading your balance and usage

  • Balance: shown at the top of the dashboard and next to Credits in the left menu.
  • What you spent: the dashboard shows total spend for the selected dates. Activity lists each request with its cost. Usage & Metrics shows the trend over time.
  • Payments: Billing → Transactions lists every top-up and what it was used for.

Invoices and VAT

  • An invoice is emailed to you automatically after every payment. You can also download it from Billing → Invoices.
  • If you need a company name, address, or VAT number on the invoice, enter them in Billing → Billing details before you pay.
  • Prices exclude VAT. VAT is added at checkout for customers in the EU.
  • Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase under EU consumer law, minus what you used. Email support@halfbill.uk.

The full price list is at halfbill.uk/pricing.
